HORTICULTURE: Local horticulturist Keith Kirsten, a multiple Gold medal finalist at
the Chelsea Flower Show, designed and landscaped the estate gardens to soothe the
sense and compliment the surrounding natural environment. Indigenous and naturalised
exotic plants and flowers create a grounded yet opulent setting. Milkwood,
Yellowwood, Sneezewood, Wild Olive and African Coral Trees share the landscape
with flowering shrubs like Hibiscus, Rose and Frangipani.
COMMUNITY: In 2008 Laurence Graff, Chairman of Graff Diamonds, set up F.A.C.E.T.
(For Africa’s Children Every Time). The aim of the charity is to raise funds for the
education, health and wellbeing of the children of Africa from where Graff sources
many of its beautiful stones www.facet-foundation.org. The first Graff Leadership
Centre is operating in Lesotho. The centre provides an Afro centred library and
training facilities for children, youth and adults in a multitude of programs, including
pre-employment skills. The building also hosts a hostel for 50 young girls in a
leadership program to develop peer leaders in their villages.
